#JWLV - Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show Trade-Only Event at Paris Las Vegas, May 29 - June 1

Rare and Unique Collections Featured at the
Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show

The Trade-Only Event is Hosted at the Paris Las Vegas, May 29 - June 1

For the 18th year, dealers from more than 20 countries will gather in Las Vegas for the Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show. The event is hosted by U.S. Antique Shows, the world’s leading producer of indoor antique shows, May 29 - June 1, 2014 at the Paris Hotel and Casino.

“We’re thrilled to continue to host our event in Las Vegas and acquaint the trade community with today’s latest jewelry trends,” says Dan Darby, Emerald Expositions vice president and U.S. Antique Shows group show director. “We’ve made some notable improvements this year like refiguring the show’s floor plan to allow dealers an increase in booth size to showcase more of their merchandise.”

The four day, trade-only show features the largest selection of antique jewelry and watches, including the latest spring trends straight from the runway. Items include gold chains, retro watches, cuff bracelets, colored diamonds, floral statement pieces and more. Attendees will also be able to purchase an array of merchandise from the Renaissance to Modern periods.

Prominent dealers from as far away as France, India, Netherlands and Singapore are just a few represented at this year’s show. Anshul Rakyan, director of the Germany-based antique jewelry and fine gemstone house, Global Gems, comments on being part of the Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show.

“We have been exhibiting at the Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show for almost two
decades. It’s a great meeting point to meet American clients as well as other dealers from
around the world,” says Rakyan. “Our signed jewels as well as European antique jewelry and
object of arts will be a highlight for this year. Furthermore, our collection of natural pearls and old-cut diamonds is always something special. We are looking forward to Vegas.”

Show times are Thursday, May 29 to Saturday, May 31 from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Sunday, June 1 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

#WordlessWednesday - Van Cleef & Arpels Exhibition in Paris!

If you have plans to be in Paris between now and February 10th,  here are a few highlights (in the spirit of Wordless Wednesday) and be sure to go to the bottom or this post for an opportunity to win tickets to the exhibition:

The Egyptian Bracelet - Close UP!

Egyptian creations, circa1924, Van Cleef & Arpels Collection:Jewelry inspired by the art of Ancient Egypt was at the height of fashion in the 1920's, which explains why Van Cleef & Arpels created numerous Egyptian-inspired jewels between 1922 and 1925. They reflect the extraordinary interest in the discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb by Lord Carnarvon in 1922.

These exceptional jewels are decorated with scenes of offerings and hieroglyphic motifs depicting scarabs, sphinxes, amphorae, bulls, ostrich feathers, lotus flowers and bees, in a reference to Ancient Egyptian iconography. They are set with precious buff-topped emeralds, sapphires, rubies, diamonds and calibrated onyx stones.
These unique Egyptian-inspired creations are highly sought after by connoisseurs and collectors.

Histoire Naturelle - Sotheby's Paris!

The Auction Results are in for the Histoire Naturelle at Sotheby's Paris.

"Sotheby's Natural History sale on 2 October achieved €917,050. One of the top lots sold was A Rare and Complete Mammoth (Late Pleistocene, Siberia, Russia), that brought €240,750."

It is interesting to note that the sell through on these auctions isn't near as good as it is on their Art and Jewelry Auctions.

I wonder if that is due to the information about the goods in these auctions not getting to the right people or a down turn in the number of people following the fossils field?

Personally I choose to believe the former as I have noticed a keen interest in collecting and Jewelry made with Fossils of all kinds!

...with our little Wholly Mammoth friend above selling so briskly - I have to believe that a few museums are seeing funding.

There does seem to be a large following from the Interior Design field and items that are beautifully presented are definite winners!    ...as this "Coffret of Exotic Crabs" can testify!

Biennale des Antiquaires 2012 Paris Exhibition

Bouquet d'Ailes from the House of Boucheron Emeralds, diamonds, sapphires, morganites, tourmalines, white, pink and yellow gold
As you are probably all aware the Biennale des Antiquaires runs through the 23rd of Sept in PARIS!!!  ...and this post is just an excuse to post some of these stunning pieces!

When you see these designs you will wonder how the designers and goldsmiths for these Couture Houses are able to produce so many detailed and MAGICAL designs in a two year period.

You can find a great preview from The Jewellery Editor - Marie Doulton:

Biennale des Antiquaires 2012 opens to the world

"The doors of the Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris open on a bright early autumn day. The Biennale is host to 150 exhibitors, nearly double the 86 present at the last event in 2010. The 26th Biennale des Antiquaires runs from 14th September to the 23rd at the Grand Palais and alongside the world's most exclusive antique and art dealers are ten of the most desirable jewellers including CartierChanelHarry Winston,BoucheronPiagetVan Cleef and Arpels,Dior and for the first time ever Bulgari and Chinese jeweller Wallace Chan. All of these houses have created their most refined jewels for this event which is the most important high jewellery client event in the calendar that comes but once every two years."

From Piaget - Ultimate seduction for this gorgeous embroidery inspired necklace that is both rare and sumptuous, embroidered with gold filaments and diamonds. Its entirely openwork, articulated structure makes it look like lace. This centrepiece of the collection is made in the same way as a Haute Couture dress, on the bias and finished with a smooth cut. It took more than 800 hours of work to create.

From Marie: "We take you to the Grand Palais in Paris for the 26th Biennale des Antiquaires. Here you'll see highlights from Boucheron; Bulgari; Cartier; Chanel; Chaumet; Harry Winston; Dior; Piaget; Van Cleef & Arpels; and Chinese jewellery artist Wallace Chan."

One of the most FUN features from the Design Houses has to be this GREAT app from Boucheron - if you are at the exhibition take a photo of your favorite Boucheron piece (good luck with choosing just one) and post it to their Facebook page!
