JCK's Las Vegas Opening Buzzed With Excitement

ON THE HEELS OF LUXURY'S ATTENDANCE BOOM, JCK LAS VEGAS OPENS
Day 1 Saw Strong Numbers and Buzzed with Excitement for the Days to Come

JCK Las Vegas, North America’s leading jewelry trade show, opened its doors today to begin its 22nd year in business. The 2013 show consists of over 2,500 manufacturers and designers representing 32 countries, including 300 new exhibitors, and covers every corner of the jewelry industry, from the most sought after brands to fashion and up-and-coming talent. JCK Las Vegas takes place at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino and runs through Monday June 3.
JCK Las Vegas features the most exhibitors of any Jewelry Week show spread over a broad range of categories from bridal and emerging artisan-quality designers to high-end fine jewelry and luxury timepieces. Loose stones, materials, packaging supplies, and merchandising displays are also available. With such breadth of product presented, the show is able to provide one-stop shopping for vendors and retailers alike. The show is divided into specific sections, making the expansive offerings easy to find and shop. The Design Center features trend-setting, innovative and up-and-coming designers such as Jason Dow, Susan Wheeler and Karin Jameison, while the classic fine jewelry staples of LUXURY include presentations from A. Link, Simon G., Tacori and Mastoloni, to name a few. Between Watches at JCK, featuring brands such as Brera and Ritmo Mundo, and Swiss Watch, home to more than 30 luxury watch brands, including Tag Heuer, Gucci and Breitling, there is indeed something for everyone.
Beyond the sheer number of amazing brands to see over the show’s four days, JCK is intent on providing an atmosphere that is prime for networking, learning and enjoyment. With ample social lounges and daily happy hour gatherings, the opportunity to mix, mingle, and do business won’t be hard to come by. The roster of daily educational seminars (topics include sales training, merchandising, inventory management, and social media) are carefully orchestrated and timely, ensuring value and relevance to those in the industry. JCK has also planned its annual ‘JCK Rocks the Beach’ party for Sunday night; the eve of the show’s closing. The talented and wildly popular Maroon 5 is on tap to perform and will undoubtedly bring the crowd to its feet in celebration of yet another banner year.
With so much to take advantage of and still more to come, retailers and members of the press were out in full force, each commenting on what the show had to offer and the highlights so far:
Severine Ferrari of Engagement 101 commented, “I was very impressed with the bridal designs; there was a lot of variety and alternatives to the halo, from modern designs to vintage. I saw a lot of color innovation, specifically with metals: two-tone metals and seamlessly fused metals together. Another thing I noticed is that designers seem to really be paying attention to the consumer and delivering on requests for unique, different, and custom creations.”
Mari Lou MC Cann of Mari Lou’s Fine Jeweler in Orlando, FL remarked on the ease and organization of the show, “We’ve been to the show many times and I can honestly say we are having the best show ever. Everything from start to finish has gone extremely well. We breezed through registration even though it was very busy, the layout of the show, with all of the different areas separated very clearly, is easy to navigate, and we’ve really enjoyed the comforts of the VIP lounge.”
From the exhibitor side, Anna Ruth Henriques of Anna Ruth Henriques Jewelry was “very happy” with Day 1’s attendance, sharing “We met with all new doors today and everyone was interested in something different. It was a very diverse, yet quality group. We are looking forward to meeting even more new customers over the next few days.”
In addition to the great energy on JCK’s main floor, the AGTA GemFair™ section of the show is open and buzzing as well. JCK runs through Monday, June 3.

Scott Kay to Join LUXURY & JCK Las Vegas 2013

Acclaimed Bridal Designer Joins LUXURY & JCK Las Vegas Shows

Norwalk, CT (February 14, 2013) - JCK Events announced today that the LUXURY and JCK Las Vegas 2013 shows will welcome veteran bridal brand/designer Scott Kay to its roster of exhibitors. The addition of the industry icon will further enhance the impressive designer bridal portfolio. The LUXURY show is set to take place May 28th to June 3rd, JCK Las Vegas runs May 31st through June 3rd, at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.

Scott Kay, the eponymous bridal jewelry collection launched in 1984, has been a beacon of the bridal jewelry industry for nearly 30 years. Designer Scott Kay’s artisan quality craftsmanship, innovative design and forward-thinking use of metals has served as an inspiration for the category, including both men’s and women’s designs, and has paved the way for a successful fashion component as well. Scott Kay’s uncompromising design philosophy and the resulting collection have translated into marked success at the retail level and an impressive level of consumer awareness.

"We are extremely pleased that Scott Kay will be joining the JCK family," says JCK's Yancy Weinrich. "To add such an in-demand and noteworthy designer talent to our portfolio brings the LUXURY and JCK experience to another level for our attendees. Scott has been a bridal tour de force for years and given so much to this industry, that it is an honor to have him represented alongside our collective of remarkable brands."

On the day of the announcement, by phone, Scott Kay added "I have decided to showcase our work at LUXURY and JCK for quite a few reasons, namely that JCK’s range of retailers and merchants fits the growing dynamics of where our industry is moving. Some of the best, most knowledgeable jewelers attend JCK for raw materials and these are the people I am trying to engage; those looking for the real, unique craft of jewelry. As a specialist in the bridal category, and as an artist, I love to push the envelope with my sculpture. My range (a 40,000 person audience) and JCK’s range makes this the appropriate stage for my brand and passion.  I joined JCK for the quality, audience and diversification. I also love the seven day format; the convenience for my clients played a big role is this decision."

In addition to JCK’s and Scott Kay’s excitement over the announcement, some key jewelry insiders, from both retail and brand-side, weighed in:

Jennifer McCullough, of Smyth Jewelers and LUXURY advisory Board member remarked, "I can't begin to share how excited I am that Scott Kay is joining LUXURY and JCK.  This will make it easier for me to see first-hand his new launches and designs in Las Vegas.  Scott Kay’s new bridal and fashion lines will supersede everyone’s expectations, including his existing accounts and people who are not yet familiar with his vision as a designer. I know retailers will feel he is a valuable addition to LUXURY and JCK."

Joel Schecter, CEO of Honora, shared, "We were thrilled to learn that Scott Kay will show at LUXURY and JCK this year. The addition of Scott Kay the company, as well as Scott Kay the person---one of the few real artists in our industry---continues to validate and strengthen the LUXURY model as the most important branded high- end show in Las Vegas. Scott is the God Father of bridal jewelry and his passion for sculpture is second to none. Great move Scott."

JCK TORONTO OPENS WITH SOLID ATTENDANCE - UPBEAT ATMOSPHERE

JCK TORONTO OPENS WITH SOLID ATTENDANCE AND UPBEAT ATMOSPHERE

Networking, Education and Social Events Are Focus

JCK Toronto 2012, Canada's premier jewellery event, opened yesterday with a healthy start. The Show, organized by JCK Events and supported by the Canadian Jewellers Association, features over 150 jewellery brands and manufacturers and primarily serves retailers from the Ontario region of Canada.

JCK Events, along with supporter CJA, orchestrates JCK Toronto, providing the Canadian jewellery market with its largest buying event. Day 1 of JCK Toronto 2012 illustrated this with heavy foot traffic, strong interest in buying and attendance at the Show's various networking and educational events.

Sunday's educational program included a diamond mining exposé, an informed discussion on the advantages of selling palladium and a session dedicated to hiring practices and tips. Future seminars will feature important topics such as social media and crafting with palladium.

The Show's industry event this evening will welcome retailers and exhibitors, amid a myriad of activities: recipients of the CJA Chairman's Award will be honored, an 'Athlete Meet & Greet' will feature important players in Canadian sports and ELLE Jewelry will sponsor a fashion show highlighting their newest jewellery looks.
"Creating a dynamic show experience is becoming increasingly more important in our industry," said John Tierney of JCK Events. "It is our goal to provide value and an atmosphere of learning and socializing alongside the business transactions. The feedback from show-goers on Sunday was a positive affirmation of that initiative and we are looking forward to a great industry event tonight and a strong finish to the show."

Raffi D. from Adler Jewelry Wholesale, Toronto, ON, commenting on the experience of exhibiting for the first time, expressed an appreciation for such efforts, "We are new to the show this year and could not be happier at the end of Day 1. We met new contacts and wrote orders in addition to attending the seminar on mining and are gearing up for a fun night of socializing and networking. There is clearly no shortage of opportunities to take advantage of, so we feel great about the investment."

JCK Toronto will run through August 14th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Canada.

ATHLETES BRING STAR POWER TO JCK TORONTO

JCK TORONTO TO BRING STAR POWER
FOR AUGUST SHOW

JCK Toronto, Canada's leading jewellery event, is set to launch its 2012 show with a revitalized program featuring star talent from both the jewellery industry and the Canadian sports arena. The Show will take place August 12th-14th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Ontario.

JCK Toronto, the organization's Canadian arm, is a premiere buying event that boasts numerous networking events and educational sessions. With over 150 exhibiting designers and manufacturers, the show serves the Ontario region of Canada, bringing the majority of retailers from the Toronto area. JCK Events runs the show in affiliation/partnership with the Canadian Jewellers Association.

Aside from buying, an important focus of the Toronto show is the educational and networking program. This year's show offers a full roster of daily educational seminars that inform buyers, designers, manufacturers, owners and marketers alike on the various factors that play a role in the jewellery industry today. These include a panel discussion on the power of social media, sessions on gemstone and diamond mining issues, as well as, best practices in jewellery retail.

New this year, the timely 'Working with Palladium' Bench Seminar, sponsored by Palladium Alliance International, will feature a hands-on workshop and tutorials by industry authorities Chris Ploof and Linus Drogs.
"With the success of the palladium campaigns of 2011 and 2012, consumers are seeking out palladium in record numbers," says Kate Peterson from Performance Concepts, Inc on behalf of Palladium Alliance International. "JCK is doing something really helpful in providing education and training in this area and bringing on the enormously talented Chris Ploof and Linus Drogs to instruct."
Networking events are plentiful in Toronto, including a star-studded welcome event that will also honor the recipient of the CJA Chairman's Award. The event will include a fashion show sponsored by ELLE Time and Jewelry, featuring jewellery from their latest collections.

In addition, an 'Athlete Meet & Greet' will take place, allowing attendees the opportunity to meet and get signed autographs from several important figures in Canadian sports:  Adrion "Pee Wee" Herman and Damion Allen of the Canadian Football League's Toronto Argonauts and Tim Connolly of the National Hockey League's Toronto Maple Leafs.

Allen led the Toronto Argonauts to the Grey Cup in 2004.
He was named the game's most valuable player.
(Tom Hanson/Canadian Press)

"The Toronto show is a great opportunity to introduce designers and manufacturers to the important players in Canada, and because it's an intimate show, the networking opportunities are unrivaled. The Show also has a great line-up of important educational seminars, given by industry leaders, as well as the star power of key athletes in Canadian sports lending their support to the industry, so it's bound to be productive and fun environment," says John Tierney from JCK Events.

SWISS WATCH: INCREASED EXPOSURE ATTRACTS MORE SERIOUS BUYERS

SWISS WATCH: INCREASED EXPOSURE ATTRACTS MORE SERIOUS BUYERS
A Comprehensive Roster of High End Brands and Improved Services
Contribute to Success
Ritmo Mundo's REFLEX
Norwalk, CT (June 26, 2012) –JCK’s Swiss Watch completed its 10th year at JCK  Las Vegas Jewelry Week with strong results. Exhibiting brands, including several newcomers, reported a more efficient show program, increased awareness and more serious buyers in its second year at Mandalay Bay. Swiss Watch took place during JCK Las Vegas Jewelry week from June 1st though 4th in the suites of Mandalay Bay, THEhotel and Mandarin Oriental.

A complement to JCK’s LUXURY event, Swiss Watch has been a member of the JCK Events portfolio for a decade. Traditionally marketed as a ‘By Appointment’ only show, JCK made increased efforts in 2012 to raise awareness of the high-end event, alerting members of the media and high-end buyers of its 30 member strong collective of exhibitors, concierge service for booking appointments and car service for trips to Mandarin Oriental, where Breitling exhibited.

“In the early days of Swiss Watch, you had to seek out appointments a little bit more on your own. But JCK has done a great job of alerting us to the fantastic representation of upscale brands exhibiting at Swiss Watch and taken any guesswork out of the process. We made our appointments though the concierge with ease and hit all of our target brands. It seems every watch brand we do business with is there and some really interesting new ones as well; it was one stop shopping for us,” says Hank Siegel of Hamilton Jewelers.

With regard to the exhibiting brands, Swiss Watch welcomed 2 new brands, Dubey & Schaldenbrand and FENDI, rounding out the Show’s representation from every area of the watch category.

Following their successful Swiss Watch at JCK, Gucci Timepieces & Jewelry officially launched its latest digital timepiece collection at the Las Vegas 2012 Indocomm, the world's most prominent audiovisual fair, through an exclusive collaboration with Samsung.
“As a long standing exhibitor at Swiss Watch, we were very pleased again with the attendance of luxury buyers this year. We found all buyers to be pre-qualified and very motivated to conduct business. The appointments went very smoothly and the overall atmosphere was impressive. We left Swiss Watch feeling very positive about our commitment to the show, felt strongly regarding our ROI and are committed to the future and being part of the exhibitors,” said Michael Benavente, Managing Director, Americas, of Gucci Timepieces and Jewelry. “Thank you to the entire SWISS WATCH team for a positive and successful 2012 Swiss Watch show!"

As for services, the Show made vast improvements from 2011, the first year in the new location.  A combination of concierge and car service, along with increased attention from hotel staff at the Suites of Mandalay Bay and THEhotel, made for “a memorable V.I.P experience,” according to Steven Kaiser, President of Kaiser Time. Mr. Kaiser went on to say, “Brands were very busy with serious buyers for the duration and the overall flow of the show was much improved. All in all, the show was a smashing success.”

#JewelWKLV - Platinum Innovation Awards

PGI-USA Announces
The Platinum Innovation Awards

Just before I got in the car to drive home yesterday I went to one last event...The presentation of the winners of the Platinum Innovation Awards were announced at a special press conference at JCK Las Vegas.

This year two awards were given in 7 categories - one was chosen at an Editors event that included editorial staff from all of the respected Jewelry and Fashion Publications, Blogs and Organizations.

The second was chosen from the show floor at JCK Las Vegas by the Buyers attending.  In a voting system much like Dancing With The Stars, various pieces throughout the show were marked with labels that instructed shoppers to text an identifying number to the PGI phonebank where the votes were tallied and announced Sunday night.

The event was beautiful - the models stunning and the winning jewels spectacular!!!

The room buzzed with the excitement of Press, Designers and Industry leaders present.  I caught a few shots of the winning pieces from the announcement event and will share them with you - professional shots will be coming soon.

Here are the details from the Platinum Guild International (PGI)...
