#JCKTALKS #JWLV JCK TALKS “Redesigning Retail” New Format Debuts in Las Vegas #JCKLV

JCK’s NEW Education Program to be

the “Talk” of the Town

JCK Las Vegas has unveiled its new Education Program for 2015—a revolutionary TED Talks-inspired concept. With the overarching theme of “Redesigning Retail” in mind, JCK Talks will seek to arm retailers with tools, insight, and information to succeed in the current era of retailing and prepare for the future. Featured speakers will include executives from HUB Spot, Edge Academy, De Beers, Adorn Insight, and Wheels Up.
The program will commence on Thursday May 28th at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, one day prior to the start of JCK Las Vegas.

With long-standing industry champion Diane Warga-Arias serving as JCK Las Vegas’s Education Strategist, the program has been invigorated to address the underlying needs of the industry. The substance of the program has changed, consisting of seminars by an all-star line-up of retail leaders and lively panel discussions. The results are an education component that differs dramatically from years past. The new program consolidates speaking engagements and panels into a power packed day-long format that will take place one day ahead of the start of JCK. These Thursday sessions will be complimented by a handful of sessions Friday through Sunday including “Diamond Insights” presented by De Beers Chief Executive Philippe Mellier and Executive Vice President, Marketing, Stephen Lussier. The new date pattern will allow for a concentrated focus on the topics at hand and will not take away from business dealings once the show floor opens.  The Talks will also live on jckonline.com, providing 24/7 access to the forward-thinking strategies, expert opinions, and personal success stories presented.
“The Talks model will infuse an inspirational, motivational tone that has proved so helpful to those looking to expand their knowledge, grow their business and achieve success,” said Warga-Arias. “It’s hearing the stories of others that motivate us to do our best work, and with topics such as “Multi-Channel Marketing for the Real World Retailer” and “The Retail Revolution”, there will be no shortage of useful tips to take away.”
Of the program’s overhaul, Yancy Weinrich said, “We are very excited to bring JCK Talks to the industry. Our education component has always been a source of pride, the Talks model feels more timely and engaging, and the thoughtful curation of powerhouse speakers and content ensures a takeaway for everyone.”

Dreams of Diamonds: An Enchanting Exhibit
Comes to Southern California

Seven iconic diamond houses
to showcase pieces for a limited time at GIA

Seven of the world’s finest diamond houses will showcase exceptionally rare diamonds and elaborate jewelry for a limited time in Southern California to coincide with the debut of “Dreams of Diamonds,” the largest book ever published on these sought-after gems. Twenty-five diamond pieces – ranging from a pair of boots set with 1,527 carats of diamonds to a 50.05 carat D color, Flawless diamond briolette – make up the exhibit, which will be on view from April 29 through May 11 at GIA’s (Gemological Institute of America) world headquarters in Carlsbad, CA.

“The creators of ‘Dreams of Diamonds’ were able to capture extraordinary diamond pieces in enchanting, ethereal settings,” said Terri Ottaway, curator of the GIA museum. “This exhibit is an ode to the wondrous world of diamonds and we’re fortunate to share the artistry of these seven diamond houses with the public.”

Each image is itself a work of art, with beautiful diamonds and diamond jewelry in unusual, often dream-like, settings. The gems and jewels featured in their unique photos were provided by 12 of the world’s most prominent diamantaires and designers, seven of whom are loaning jewels for the exhibit at GIA.

Together, diamond houses Adler, Chatila, Chow Tai Fook, Diacore, Diarough, Mouawad and MUNNU The Gem Palace will showcase 25 of their noteworthy pieces. A total of more than 4,000 carats of diamonds will be on view at the GIA exhibit.

Many of the remarkable diamonds shown in the book have passed through GIA’s laboratory for grading and evaluation. “Dreams of Diamonds” will be on display in Carlsbad from April 29 through May 11. The Institute’s museum is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Reservation is required. For more details, visit GIA’swebsite or call 800-421-7250.
