MJSA's Custom Jeweler Membership Debuts 

Custom jewelers spend their days creating unique jewelry for their clients--and now there's an MJSA membership tailored just for them. The new MJSA Custom Jeweler membership category is affordably priced at $95, and includes free subscriptions to the monthly MJSA Journal and quarterlyMJSA Custom Jeweler; free archived articles from both publications; and discounts on the books of MJSA Press and other leading industry publications. Custom Jeweler members can also use the MJSA logo on their websites, in their studios, and at their stores, to signal their commitment to professional excellence in jewelry making and design.

In addition, Custom Jeweler members can upgrade at any time to MJSA's Retail membership category. This higher level of membership allows retailers to gain access to additional services the association offers, including deep discounts on FedEx shipping, store-branded consumer financing programs through GE Money, and affordable press release preparation through the PR & Pix program. There are also discounts on subcontracting services (such as CAD/CAM), and various other discounted supplies and services for custom jewelers, provided by MJSA suppliers that participate in the MJSA Member-to-Member program.

Jewelry Historians Tour of All That Glitters Exhibit in San Diego!


American Society of Jewelry Historians Offers Exclusive Tour of All That Glitters: The Splendor & Science of Gems & Minerals at San Diego Natural History Museum

Exhibit Curator Elise B. Misiorowski leads tour on Sat., August 7 at 9:45 a.m.

SAN DIEGO – The Southern California Chapter of The American Society of Jewelry Historians (ASJH) announced an exclusive tour of the new exhibition, All That Glitters: The Splendor & Science of Gems & Minerals, at the San Diego Natural History Museum on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 9:45 a.m. This unique show highlights a wide range of spectacular natural mineral crystals, exquisite jewelry, and works of art. Exhibit curator and GIA Graduate Gemologist Elise B. Misiorowski will lead the tour for ASJH members and their guests.

The exhibition focuses on gemstones and minerals native to California including the rare state gemstone Benitoite - only found in San Benito County, California. Tour participants will also view dazzling pieces on loan from private collectors and major U.S. Institutions including the American Museum of Natural History; Gemological Institute of America; Harvard University Mineralogical Museum; and National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institute. The exhibition will be at the Museum until May 15, 2012.

Tickets are $14 per person with RSVPs and payment required by August 1. Payment should be sent to:

Margaux Lange Puts Her Best Foot Forward...


If you have been following this blog for any length of time you know I am a huge fan of Margaux Lange's Barbie Jewelry.

...well - for those of you in the Eastern US - you have 2 days left to catch her contributions to the current exhibit at the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, MA

The Perfect Fit: Shoes Tell Stories, the museum exhibition this bracelet and two other works of mine are included in at the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, MA will be closing on January 17th. However… it will soon be traveling on to the Nicolaysen Museum in Casper, Wyoming (hooray!) The show will open there April 30 and will remain until September 12, 2010.
