Following the success of the 2014 Conclave in San Diego, the American Gem Society has made videos of its popular keynote and featured sessions available to not only its members, but to the industry, for free, with its new Conclave On Demand, located at:

www.ags.org/ConclaveonDemand

The site features full-length videos of the keynote presentations from Magic Johnson, Peter Sheahan, Erik Wahl and Bryan Dodge. Additionally, sessions from Dr. Philip Martineau (De Beers), and sales expert Adam Markel and social media guru James Spellos are also available.

The presentations touch on a range of topics from motivational to hard-core business tactics, as well as industry-related gemological issues.

Some of the Conclave On Demand videos featured include:
“The Magic of Winning,” Magic Johnson

“The Art of Vision,” Erik Wahl

“Creating the Ultimate Sales Team,” Adam Markel

“Undisclosed Synthetics: What you need to know,” Dr. Philip Martineau

“Building a Team Without You,” Bryan Dodge

“Conclave On Demand was made possible by a grant from the JCK Industry Fund,” said
Ruth Batson, CEO of the American Gem Society and AGS Laboratories. “After the huge
success of this year’s Conclave, we’re thrilled we can share glimpses of it with our members who could not attend, and give non-members a peek into the premier educational event in the industry. By providing access to a limited part of our education, we can help better the industry.”

Gemfields ROCKS the BIG THREE! Sapphires from Sri Lanka Added to Coloured Gemstone Portfolio

Press release provided by Gemfields

Gemfields adds Sapphires from Sri Lanka
to Coloured Gemstone Portfolio

Gemfields is pleased to announce that it has entered into a joint venture with East West Gem Investments Limited (‘EWGI’), a Jersey registered company, in order to progress opportunities in the Sri Lankan sapphire and gemstone sector via three Sri Lankan subsidiaries which will be 75% and 25% held by Gemfields and EWGI respectively.

Fabergé Award Winning Emotion Ring Collection

Under the terms of the agreements, Gemfields has acquired 75% operating interests in sixteen exploration licences (covering diverse minerals) for a consideration of USD 0.4 million. The Sri Lankan joint venture seeks to deploy Gemfields’ proven exploration and gemstone experience with a view to replicating the successes achieved in Zambia and Mozambique, where Gemfields’ approach has brought considerable benefits for both the local population and the regional economy.

Fabergé Devotion Multi-Coloured Earrings – Emeralds, Rubies and Sapphires

The joint venture will also see Gemfields and EWGI establish a gemstone trading company called Ratnapura Lanka Gemstones (Pvt) Ltd, a company approved by the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI Sri Lanka). The trading company will focus on sourcing rough sapphires from various sources in the local market.

It is intended that Gemfields’ proprietary gemstone grading systems and marketing methodologies will be applied in order to offer the gems to international buyers via Gemfields’ proven rough gemstone auction platforms, thereby adding value to Sri Lankan gemstone production, growing the sector and contributing to economic development.

The joint venture agreements seek to develop the broader exploration, mining and sorting infrastructure in Sri Lanka in order to promote a sustainable, transparent and globally competitive gemstone sector.

Fabergé Devotion Collection Featuring Emeralds, Rubies and Sapphires
Ian Harebottle, CEO of Gemfields, commented:

“We are delighted to announce our entry into what we consider to be the third of the ‘big three’ coloured gemstones. With revenue-producing emerald and ruby operations in Zambia and Mozambique already in the Gemfields portfolio, the proposed development of sapphire operations in Sri Lanka will realise our stated red, blue and green ‘traffic light’ of coloured gemstones strategy.

Sri Lanka is already known as a key source of sapphires of all colours, and of the highly sought-after padparadscha sapphire. The favourable business climate and attractive incentives available via the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka provide a sound platform for our investment and evaluation of growth opportunities.

We are excited about the possibility of being able to offer a reliable supply of well-graded sapphires to customers attending our auctions, and to ensuring that all gemstone stakeholders in Sri Lanka - including its government and general population - benefit from the value-addition and transparency that the Gemfields approach has already delivered in Zambia and Mozambique”.

Gemfields plc is the world's leading supplier of responsibly sourced coloured gemstones and is listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange (ticker: GEM) where it is a constituent of the AIM50 index.

In July 2009, Gemfields commenced a formal auction programme for Zambian emeralds mined at the Kagem emerald mine. To date, the Company has held sixteen auctions of emerald and beryl produced at Kagem and which have generated revenues totalling USD 276 million. The Company has also held two traded emerald auctions (of gems not obtained directly from the Company’s own mining operations) which generated revenues of USD 22.0 million.

The Company also owns a 75% stake in the highly prospective Montepuez ruby deposit in Mozambique as well as licences in Madagascar including ruby, emerald and sapphire deposits. In June 2014, Gemfields held its first auction of rough ruby and corundum produced at the Montepuez ruby deposit, generating revenues of USD 33.5 million. In addition, Gemfields holds a 50% interest in the Kariba amethyst mine in Zambia.

Gemfields acquired the Fabergé brand in January 2013 to create a globally recognised coloured gemstone champion. Fabergé provides Gemfields with direct control over a high-end luxury goods platform and a global brand with exceptional heritage.

#MML #Csarite - Trademarks Granted for CSARITE® and CSARITE RARE.NATURAL.EXQUISITE® And Donates Large CSARITE® Gems to GIA Museum

Milenyum Mining Limited Granted Trademarks
for CSARITE®
and CSARITE RARE.NATURAL.EXQUISITE®
And Donates Large CSARITE® Gems to Museum

GIA Carlsbad Receives 2 Significant Gems

Milenyum Mining Limited (MML) is excited to announce that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted two trademarks to their company for the rare and unique gemstone, CSARITE®.  US Serial Number 86162962 was issued on July 22, 2014 for CSARITE®.  US Serial Number 86162943 was issued on August 5, 2014 for CSARITE RARE.NATURAL.EXQUISITE®.
Ethically sourced and responsibly mined at its sole known source deep in the mountains of the Anatolia region of Turkey, the CSARITE®  trademark will allow greater consumer recognition for this gemstone rapidly growing in popularity, but also help distinguish it from synthetics and simulants entering the market through unscrupulous dealers and retailers.

With the trademark now approved and registered, MML has stepped up its efforts to combat theft and illegal mining at the mine site by working closely with Turkish ministeries and army to monitor illegal activity and take immediate legal action when necessary.  The Milas County Courts recently approved the first conviction of an illegal miner who will face 12 months in prison and substantial financial fines.  Some 35 other individuals are being sued and more convictions will follow.
“As this lovely gemstone grows in popularity, it’s especially important that the quality and purity of natural CSARITE® is protected,” states Murat Akgun, president of Milenyum Mining Limited.  “With the granting of the name and slogan trademarks, our already transparent supply chain instills even greater confidence for our buyers”.

Akgun urges consumers interested in purchasing CSARITE®, and especially those traveling to Turkey, to only buy the gem from MML’s authorized retailers and distributors, which can be found on the web site www.csarite.info.  He urges all buyers to check the web site  frequently, as MML is constantly monitoring its distributors and the list may change due to their strict screening  policy.

IN OTHER NEWS:

Milenyum Mining Limited  recently donated two rare CSARITE® gemstones to GIA’s (Gemological Institute of America) museum in Carlsbad, Calif.

CSARITE® is a natural color change gemstone actively mined at only one global source deep in the Anatolia Mountains of Turkey.  A 37.29 ct. Wobito® oval and an especially large 115.57 ct. cabochon gem that also exhibits chatoyancy, otherwise known as the cats eye effect, as well as a collection of 30 additional CSARITE® gemstones in a variety of sizes, shapes and cuts were given to the Institute.

“Only about 40 – 50% of the rough material is suitable enough to be considered for faceting,” explained Murat Akgun, president of Milenyum Mining Limited. “Of that amount, 98% is lost in the cutting process.  GIA’s appreciation for fine, rare gemstones makes it an especially appropriate home for these gems.”

“The beautiful, large oval and cabochon gems are truly display quality pieces,” stated Ottaway.  “And with more and more of this unusual material available in the marketplace, we very much appreciate having this assortment of gemstones to share with our students, researchers and visitors.”

ABOUT MILENYUM MINING LIMITED: MML is the world’s only source supply of CSARITE®, a natural, unenhanced color-change gemstone. Responsible for cutting and marketing of this phenomenal gemstone, MML’s mission is to introduce gem and jewelry connoisseurs around the globe to CSARITE®’s unique beauty and rarity. MML is a member of The International Colored Gemstone Association.
