You may know Atelier Leseine for their stunning Perle Captive Collection which garnered much commendation at the International Pearl Design Competition held by the Culture Pearl Association of America...but today we are going back to the roots of Atelier Leseine, her carved pearls.

"Every carefully hand-selected pearl is given a master's touch by the skillful Tahitian artisans who hand-carve their traditional Polynesian motifs to convey a culture rich with powerful images.
These treasured jewels are as unique as the wearer -- you are truly the sole owner of these original pearls."
Leseine's carved pearls are offered in three distinctly unique collections...

Moana Chic - confidently chic strung with the shimmering tones from black spinel or pyrite.

Moana Mode - clean, contemporary perfect with black or silver wire chokers.

Moana Trend - simple with a touch of edge - clasp allows you to personalize this look

Weekend Emerging Designer Spotlight on "little h" by Hisano Takei

The Spotlight is on:

 "little h" by Hisano Takei
    www.hisanotakei.com

"I am attracted to the idea of jewelry taking different roles other than simply ornamentation.  Ideas such as jewelry suggesting garment, jewelry taking over the body of the wearer, and jewelry breaking out of the traditional role of adornment are some ideas that enthrall me. The shift in scale and use of traditional and nontraditional material in jewelry making allowed me to challenge these ideas. My work is predominantly made out of organic gems such as pearls and wool. I explore forms and ideas of jewelry through texture, color, and overall composition. The softness and curves are inviting aspects of my forms; the sensuous properties of felted jewelry are uncommon and strike new challenges for the wearer and the viewer alike."

Early admirers include First Lady, Michelle Obama - seen wearing
the Colorful Torsade from the Colorful Pearls Collection.
When Taylor Swift was channeling her inner Jacki-O she stacked
bracelets from the Tiny Freshwater Collection - CLASSIC!

Baroque Pearl Silhouette Collection

The silhouettes mimic the unique outline of baroque saltwater pearls with diamond and colored stone accents.

Curator's Note: This collection is brilliant - rather than trying to match up baroque pearls, Hisano, the designer, chooses to celebrate the very thing that makes each pearl unique...

Golden South Sea pearls in 14k yellow gold with yellow diamond accents
Tahitian pearls in Sterling Silver with tiny accents of ruby and green diamonds.
...to the sensuous feel of her felted wool pieces.

The unexpected whimsy of using traditional jewelry making techniques
to create a woven bracelet in wool felt...for the Felt Jewelry Collection.

"I strive to create
beautiful wearable pieces
that provoke wonderment, attraction, and disturbance."

Pame' Designs - "Where Glamour Meets Adventure"

Pam Sweeney is the talent behind Pame' Designs and I have to say that I am a little jealous of her journey to the life and business she has built for herself.

Her tagline:   "Where Glamour Adventure" speaks to that journey.

You probably know her long wrapped bracelets that can also be worn as necklaces...or bohemian leather and pearl necklaces and bracelets from the pages of the fashion magazines and Celeb photos.

From a childhood in Manhattan, learning style on the streets of New York City, flash forward to this girl that would have fit in perfectly at my heavily surf oriented California Beach High School?  yeah Corona del Mar High School...livin' the dream! ;-p

Once that glamorous style of the big city was instilled in her Pam moved to Colorado - then traveled to the crystal blue beaches of Mexico - learned to surf and fell in love with both.

Today Pame' Designs is an Aspen based company with a foot in the surf...creating jewelry using sustainable materials and making a conscious decision to give back to the countries from which the materials are derived.

Excerpt from the Pame' Designs Website:

"Pame' Designs is a luxury jewelry company that is inspired by Pam Sweeney's global travel and love of beach, surf and exotic finds from around the world. The collection - created from the highest quality leather, silver and gold are adorned with Tahitian pearls, marcasite and semi-precious stones that carry meaning and invite conversation.

Dedicated to keeping our oceans healthy and furthering her love of nature, a portion of all jewelry sales are donated to the Surfrider Foundation or the Waterkeeper Alliance to help protect and keep our rivers and ocean healthy"
