JCK's Evening of Design Honors Top Retailers and Exhibitors

 Event Features NEW Design Center Editor's Choice Awards

JCK Events announced the Design Center's Top 50 Retailers and named the recipient of the new Design Center Editor's Choice award in a fittingly titled ceremony on Friday in Las Vegas. The Evening of Design event drew supporters of the Design Center, which features up and coming and established jewelry artisans, design retailers and fashion-forward consumer and trade media.
Held at JCK's exclusive Wine(d) Down bar, Evening of Design began with an address from Lars Parker-Myers, JCK's Manager of Strategic Accounts, and went on to name the Top 50 Designer Retailers. Parker-Myers, in introducing the program, said "these are the retailers who support this area of the market-the unique, the innovative, the exceptionally well crafted-like no other." The winner of the 2015 Top 50 Designer Retailer Award went to Gallery of Jewels from San Francisco, CA.


The Top 10 of the 50 retailers, who were called to the stage for recognition, include: G. Thrapp from Indianapolis, IN, Greenwich Jewelers from New York, NY, Jewels That Dance from Asheville, NC, I. Gorman Jewelers from Washington, DC, Charde Jewelers from Houston, TX, Aaron Faber Gallery from New York, NY, Cursive from Brooklyn, NY, The Clay Pot from Brooklyn, NY, and last year's winner, Z Folio Gallery from Solvang, CA. View the full top 50 list here.

To close out the evening, W Magazine's Claudia Mata took the stage to announce the winner of the Design Center Editor's Choice Award, a first time endeavor for JCK. The award recognized a designer who breaks the boundaries of innovation and originality, while combining new trends and classic ideas, celebrates imagination, and excels at craftsmanship. Votes were cast over the course of two days after editors viewed the top three finalists which included: Arya Esha, Anita Sondore, and Marcia Budet. Top honor went to Marcia Budet.


"Winning the first annual Editor's Choice Award means the world to me. This is my first big show and, as a JCK Rising Star, it feels incredible that my point of view as a designer is being acknowledged. I will never forget how special this felt." said Marcia Budet.

TW Steel’s 10th anniversary is being celebrated with the introduction of a stunning Swiss Made Limited Edition ‘Apex’ Canteen Style timepiece. The brand ‘Big in Oversized Watches’ has created 200 ‘Apex’ models to celebrate not only the company’s success in growing worldwide over the past decade but also the success of its flagship Canteen Style design.



Created to represent the very pinnacle of TW Steel style, these Limited Edition Canteen timepieces (TWAC 10 – 45mm), in addition to being Swiss Made, house an ETA 7750 Valjoux Chronograph Automatic movement for added accuracy and sapphire crystal.

Bold design features include a steel case with hammered bezel and a black embossed dial, with month and date display. Each ‘Apex’ model sports an opulent real crocodile leather brown strap and is 10 ATM waterproof. The attention to detail carries through all the way to the stylish 10th anniversary watch box.

Offering outstanding luxury and perfectly reflecting TW Steel’s commitment to design excellence, the ‘Apex’ Canteen Style Limited Edition timepiece will retail with an RRP of €1799 / $1899.

Taking it a step further, TW Steel has also created a unique one-off presentation of a diamond ‘Apex’ Canteen Style execution. Designed purely to capture imaginations to the possibility of highly-stylized oversized timepieces, this diamond encrusted edition will serve as a centre-piece for the brand in its anniversary celebrations.

Sharing many of the same features as the Limited Edition ‘Apex’ Canteen editions, the unique diamond edition sparkles with 120 1.1mm and 267 1.5mm full cut VVS diamonds on both the bezel and the case totaling 4.669 carats. The embossed black dial also hosts 2 VVS diamonds to replace the famed two dots of the TW Steel logo. “

LUXURY announced the winner of its 2015 Retailer of the Year yesterday—J.R. Dunn Jewelers. The 50 total applicants were narrowed down to five finalists which included Borsheims Fine Jewelry and Gifts in Omaha, NE, Dianna Rae Jewelry in Lafayette, LA ,G. Thrapp Jewelers in Indianapolis, IN , and Roberson's Fine Jewelry in Little Rock, AK, J.R. Dunn Jewelers in Lighthouse Point, FL received the most votes to take the prestigious title. This is the LUXURY show's second year naming a top retailer to honor for a year of excellence in retail service. All five stores were recognized at LUXURY's final breakfast on Thursday morning, with J.R. Dunn receiving a round of thunderous applause when named.

"First it was butterflies, then it was pure electricity and joy when we heard J.R. Dunn Jewelers announced as the winner. It is extremely gratifying to know we had the support of not only our clients and local community but our jewelry industry peers as well. We owe a lot to our J.R. Retailers were judged based on how well their stores were able to meet challenges and exceed expectations in the modern era of retailing-one which includes e-commerce, a meshing of e-commerce with brick and mortar, prolific social media use, and mastery of lifestyle marketing all aligned with the overarching theme of "Redesigning Retail". Voting for the LUXURY community opened on Tuesday, May 26 at 11:00 am and closed on Wednesday, May 27 at 6:00 pm. Voters were given three options to vote: Text to vote, "like" to vote on Instagram and "like" to vote on the LUXURY community Facebook page. Between the three options, over 2,600 votes were cast.

JCK Las Vegas Opens on the Heels of Successful LUXURY Preview

 
Las Vegas, NV (May 30, 2015) — JCK Las Vegas, the largest jewelry tradeshow in North America, opened its doors Friday to commence its 24th event. The opening follows a successful 3-day, by invitation-only LUXURY show preview, indicating strong attendance and buying for the days ahead. " This year's LUXURY event has new excitement. The group of Elite Enclave brands, with its concentration of elite fashion designers is a refreshing twist on the show itself." said Julie Maddox, Vice President, Roberson's Fine Jewelry, Little Rock, AK. 

Buyers and exhibitors alike were met with an enthusiastic JCK team, ready to wow them with new exhibitors, show upgrades, and a highly anticipated events and entertainment schedule.

"There is so much to see and take advantage of at JCK Las Vegas 2015," Yancy Weinrich said. "We are thrilled to have over 2,300 brands exhibiting-many returning faces and some new, such as ALEX AND ANI, Roseark, an impressive increased presence from Forevermark and a new Tech neighborhood which has been quite an attraction." Feedback on the show atmosphere and upgrades, as well as business dealings, was highly positive.

JCK Las Vegas 2015 boasts an easier to navigate show floor, largely due to a new icon system delineating curated neighborhood pavilions, which appealed to busy shoppers out of the gate on Friday. Attendees also noticed a sophisticated style infusion throughout the show's campus. Additionally, scores of industry professionals seemed to enjoy the new lounges-many with specific themes and amenities including a spa lounge, translation services in the passport lounge, and roaming food carts.

"For us, the opening day of JCK was excellent in terms of traffic, it is like the faucet was turned on. We had a great first day. We had a lot of retailer success." said Brian Watkins, President, Ritani.
