Ambassador Gillian A. Milovanovic, the current chair of the Kimberley Process on behalf of the United States, will host an on-the-record web chat about certification.
The goal of the Web chat is to discuss the Kimberley Process, how it works, what it has achieved, and how it plans to move forward.

To join the event, go to  http://conx.state.gov/digital-diplomacy/

Questions can be submitted both during the chat and prior to it.

Ambassador Milovanovic, KP Chair

Since the Kimberley Process launched its Certification Scheme in January 2003, much has been achieved. The KP helped bring improved governance and transparency to the trade, in countries that were previously marked by conflict, such as Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Angola. The KP then helped enable improvements in diamond sector governance and monitoring in the vast range of producing, trading, and consuming countries. The KP directed the collection of detailed statistics on the rough diamond trade that were simply unobtainable before the KP’s existence. The KP continues to facilitate the development of detailed diamond footprints in producing countries. The U.S. is now spearheading a unique collaboration of geologists and rights’ monitors who will monitor artisanal diamond production in Guinea.

Review - NanoStyle, 24kt Engraved Jewelry

The generous folks at NanoStyle (known for their cubic zirconia and onyx jewelry) offered me a pendant from their current line for review...and well of course I said YES!

My choice was this stunning Buddha pendant.  Now, what makes NanoStyle Jewelry special is how the design is applied...the designs are engraved in 24 kt Gold.  The term Nano applies to something extremely small and in this case there is inspirational wording that forms a calming spiral.

"This elaborate Buddhist pendant depicts the Supreme Buddha levitated above the words of the unconditional love meditation, the Metta Prayer, flowing in a spiral against an intricate backdrop design of Om symbols. The depiction is imprinted in a dazzling pure gold on an oval, 15x21, onyx stone and available in a 14 karat gold or 925 sterling silver setting of your choice. "

Boardroom to a special Dinner Date, even casually with jeans this pendant ROCKS!!!  I wore this piece several times for events during the Tucson Gem Show and it always garnered comments and compliments...don't forget the magnifier people always want to see it closer!

Not everything is Gold on Black Onyx - in fact I was torn between the Buddha 2 that I chose and this stunner in a Light Garnet Cubic Zirconia with "I Love You" in 120 languages engraved around a golden heart!

"Je t’aime…… Te Quiero……Ich lieb dich …… sun ho ez…. I Love You!
If you can’t say it enough then say it in 120 languages! Illuminate your love for your sweetheart with this divine range of gemstone pendants. This shimmering love pendant collection is available in a choice of brilliant, round (16mm) cubic zirconias (clear crystal, light amethyst, light garnet or pink). Set in a choice of stunning sterling silver or glimmering 14 karat gold. I Love You is inscribed in 120 languages in 24 karat gold to help give that extra sparkle!"

Would I recommend this product?  YES!  In fact I am looking at a piece for my sister.

I would even recommend this line as a perfect addition to a Jewelry or Gift Store!  I love mine!
“Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy.” - Kahlil Gibran
I love a company that supports activism, so this is special, from the NanoStyle website...

NanoStyle presented their "I Love You" pendant to Pamela Anderson. Given as a token of their respect for her diligent work as an International ambassador of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). Pamela has bared all to reveal the truth behind the treatment of animals used in the clothing and fur trade.

RMS Titanic Inc. Teams Up With QVC for 100th Anniversary Collection

RMS Titanic, Inc., a Subsidiary of Premier Exhibitions, Inc., is the Only Company Permitted by Law to Recover Objects From the Wreck Site of Titanic, Signs First Ever Deal With External Retail Partner to Replicate Artifacts

RMS Titanic, Inc., a subsidiary of Premier Exhibitions. Inc., a leading presenter of museum quality touring exhibitions around the world, announced today that the company will enter into a relationship with QVC(R), Inc., one of the largest multimedia retailers in the world. As the only company permitted by law to recover objects from the wreck site of Titanic, RMS Titanic, Inc. will work closely with QVC to design several Titanic-inspired products including jewelry, home goods, giftware and a fragrance, "Legacy 1912--Titanic.(TM)".

A Note About the Inspiration

Legacy 1912 is based upon the perfume oils developed by German-born chemist Adolphe Saalfeld. He was traveling first class on the Titanic to New York in hopes of developing a new line of perfumes in floral and citrus scents. He survived the sinking, but his 65 samples were lost. Recovered from 2-1/2 miles beneath the ocean's surface, many samples amazingly still contained their extraordinary perfumes.

RMS Titanic Inc.'s venture with QVC is the first external retail agreement the company has ever granted the rights to in terms of reproducing Titanic's artifacts or using them as inspiration for additional products.

"As we prepare for the 100th anniversary of Titanic's sole maiden voyage in April, it is a perfect time for RMS Titanic Inc. to create some one-of-a-kind products to commemorate this historic occasion," said Marcy Davis, SVP Retail/Licensing, Venue Operations and Strategic Partnerships. "Teaming up with QVC allows us to bring a little bit of Titanic to viewers nationwide."

Each of the products being sold by QVC will either be an exact replica of an item recovered from the wreck site of Titanic or will be inspired by a passenger's belonging. The full range of prices is covered in beautifully reproduced pieces from this White Topaz & Diamond Filigree Ring...

A Note About the Inspiration

This piece is based on a beautiful, handmade, platinum, 18K gold, and diamond ring that probably belonged to one of Titanic's first-class passengers. During the formal dinners onboard, this ring would've sparkled and danced with an inner fire in response to the glow of electric lights. The gallery design gives it a three-dimensional depth as it highlights the Edwardian love of jewelry in its imitation of lace.                                                             via QVC website

To a stunning reproduction of a First Class Cabin Key:   Sure to ignite conversation, this highly polished slide pendant--inspired by the RMS Titanic--displays a radiant key and a replicated first-class tag. Beautiful on its own, it also adds an element of history to your jewelry box. From the Titanic Collection.

A Note About the Inspiration

Titanic was a floating palace with a full complement of cabins, suites, provision stores, cabinets, and more. Each door had a lock and key. Much as in today's society, the stewards had keys to access the cabins so they could refresh or remove drinking water, flowers, and similar supplies and furnishings.                   via QVC website

The products are scheduled to debut on QVC April 6 at 8:00 PM (ET) as well as on QVC UK on April 10.

The U.S broadcast is scheduled to feature expert guest Alexandra Klingelhofer, vice president of collections for RMS Titanic, Inc. and the UK show will feature P.H. Nargeolet, director of underwater research for RMS Titanic Inc. Klingelhofer and Nargeolet will provide historical background and context on each product during the broadcasts.

RMS Titanic Inc. hosts six traveling Titanic exhibits, called Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, throughout the world as well as permanent exhibits in both Las Vegas and Orlando (visit rmstitanic.net for current venues). The Titanic inspired fragrance, "Legacy 1912--Titanic(TM)", and select jewelry and home items will also be sold at thetitanicstore.com as well as in various Titanic exhibit venues around the globe.

RMS Titanic, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Premier Exhibitions, Inc., is the only company permitted by law to recover objects from the wreck of Titanic. The Company was granted Salvor-In-Possession rights to the wreck of Titanic by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Norfolk Division in 1994 and has conducted eight research and recovery expeditions to Titanic recovering approximately 5,000 artifacts. The Company is located in Atlanta, Georgia, and also serves as a leading presenter of museum quality exhibitions throughout the world. As the recognized leader in developing and displaying unique exhibitions for education and entertainment the Company tours multiple experiences including the blockbuster "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition," now seen by more than 25 million worldwide. Twisted - Screwed - New From Erica Miller

With a passion for blending past and present together in beautiful balance, Erica Miller Designs introduces a signature new line of handcrafted jewelry with timeless, personalized appeal. The collection - including rings, bracelets, cuffs, pendants and earrings - comes in an array of sterling silver and 14k gold pieces, and features distinctive details like twisted wire, tiny screws, inspiring messages, crystals and gemstones.

Each jewelry piece is handcrafted, tumbled and hand-burnished for perfect shine and finish. In ordering many of the pieces, the purchaser can make the call about its features: an initial for a child, loved one, your own monogram or favorite gemstone makes the design special and completely your own. Some of the highlighted Erica Miller Designs which allow you to choose your own metals and vintage stones are: Luck Horseshoe Ring & Pendant ($115), Champagne Hope Ring ($240), Love Monogram Ring ($275), and the whimsical Wish Bracelet ($132). The Love Celebration Pendant, engraved with your desired year or initials, is the perfect keepsake - ideal for an anniversary present or a personal memento.

Adding a classic French twist to everyday jewelry staples, the Plaque de Muselet (champagne cap) designs are the collection favorite. Inspired by the twisted wire and cap on a champagne bottle, Erica created numerous pieces that feature this clever nod to the finer things in life - and each piece can even be customized with monogrammed initials or signs to reflect any moment in the wearer's life journey. With your one-of-a-kind custom touches, a piece from this collection becomes a truly unique reflection of personality and purpose.

Hailing from the Mile High City of Denver, Erica Miller infuses her love of family into all her works - from her first creation, a champagne cap and wire welded together by her husband to form a ring, to her daughter's fairy wand that influenced her Wish collection. Each of these and more are available for purchase on the website. Finding inspiration in the world and people around her, the designer uses everyday objects as the foundation of her craft, whether it's a champagne cap, screws out of her husband's tool closet, or her grandmother's antique wedding ring. The collection can also be found in select boutiques.

Yogo Sapphires' Mike Roberts Found In Mine

It is with a heavy heart that I report, according to an article from the Great Falls Tribune, Yogo Sapphire Mine Owner/Operator, Mike Roberts was killed in a mining accident.

"A mine accident near Utica killed a Great Falls man sometime Monday night or early Tuesday morning, according to the Judith Basin County Coroner's Office.
Deputy Coroner Dick Brown said in a press release that Michael Duane Roberts, 54, was killed in a Sapphire Mine accident that was reported early Tuesday morning. The exact time of the accident is unknown, Brown said. Roberts was the only person in the mine at the time and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of death is under investigation."

I am posting this with a photo of Mike doing what he loved...from the Yogo Website.

"He smiles. “I love it down here. It’s like a mansion,” he says. His grin is lit by his headlamp. “But my wife wouldn’t live in a hole in the ground.” He laughs."   from an interview with Explore Big Sky in June of 2011

This is extremely sad news for many in the local community who shared an evening with Mike & Laura just a couple nights ago at the "Art and Yogo Gala" benefiting Special Olympics.

A good time, a good cause and an education on Montana's famous sapphires came together at the Holiday Inn - the event raised money for Special Olympics.

"It's a cause dear to our hearts," said Laurie Roberts of the Roberts Yogo Co. near Utica. She described the basics of Yogo mining, including the absolute darkness in the shafts and the filthy laundry that results, during the event.

Mike Roberts said the sapphires are nicer to mine than gold. "Everybody in Montana likes Yogos," he said.  The evening was a huge success!

That is how the Great Falls Tribune reported it.

But this page from the Special Olympics Event Program says so much about the man...

Thank you to Dick Hughes for posting this information on his Ruby-Sapphire page on Facebook
