About TIMEX:
TIMEX roots date back to 1894 in Waterbury, Connecticut, a time when how you made something was just as important as what you made.  But the brand
came into its own in the '50s.  In 1950, TIMEX brand watches arrived with the V-Conic, the first high-quality mass produced watch movement.  At the end of the decade, every third watch sold was a TIMEX.  AND we did everything imaginable to destroy our watches on live television each week, proving "TIMEX takes a licking and keeps on ticking."

Then in 1984, TIMEX took the clock off the finish line and put it on your wrist creating the world's first Sports Watch. The TIMEX Ironman became your coach, your motivation and a symbol of your dedication.  Together, we've crossed nearly every finish line in the world.

With 1992 came the Indiglo Night Light which became the TIMEX signature Blue Backlight, revolutionalizing the way the world reads time in the dark.

The Caliber Collection
Jewelry That Gives Proceeds Back To Communities Affected By Gun Violence

The Caliber Collection from the Perfect Provenance is a unique Jewelry Collection that is working to "give-back" to communities affected by gun violence.

The oval shape of the bracelet mimics the trigger cage of a gun and serves as a reminder of the destruction that is caused when the trigger of a gun is pulled.

Steel Bangle with a diamond
Each series carries a serial number that corresponds with one of the guns that were taken off the streets of Newark, Detroit, Hartford and San Francisco by the Police Department. The side of the bracelet is hand hammered to symbolize the hard work required, not only of the local police but of each individual, in the fight to get illegal guns off the streets of their community.

Newark Bangle

As a continuation of their devoted and comprehensive efforts to eradicate illegal gun violence from the streets of their city, the Detroit Police Department and Rock Ventures have collaborated with Caliber Collection to create a virtuous cycle using the serial numbers from premise weapons and metal from shell casings. The result is Caliber Detroit. Available in Rose Gold Plated or White Gold Plated; one size.

The pieces are handmade, no two are exactly alike. 20% of the proceeds from each purchase will be donated to the Caliber Foundation to support victims and communities devastated by illegal gun violence. Available to purchase at www.ThePerfectProvenance.com

Additionally, the majority of the AGTA exhibitors that were with JCK in 2018 are contracted to return to our new Global Gemstone neighborhood for JCK Las Vegas 2019. Earlier this year, JCK also signed a new multi-year partnership with the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) to debut within the new Global Gemstone neighborhood. Within the neighborhood, ICA will have its own expansive 8,300 square foot pavilion dedicated to its member exhibitors. The Global Gemstone neighborhood will be comprised of three ballrooms that will house over 200 exhibitors from all around the world.

"JCK Las Vegas is the most important show of the year for us," says Ron Rahmanan of Sara Gem Corp. "Our decision to stay at JCK and exhibit within the new Global Gemstone pavilion was an easy one. The show never fails to provide the tools that we, and visiting buyers, need to be successful and draws more buyers than any other show in the U.S. We are in good company with many of the best gemstone companies also exhibiting at JCK 2019. We are thrilled to be part of the new and exciting things to come with a refreshed show in 2019."

LAELIM and IGC Disclose a Diamond’s Full Journey with GIA M2M

LAELIM and IGC Disclose
a Diamond’s Full Journey with GIA M2M
First retailer in China to participate

GIA (Gemological Institute of America) announced that Chinese retailer LAELIM Jewelry and Belgian diamond manufacturer IGC Group will pilot GIA’s M2M program that allows for complete transparency and traceability of diamonds along the value chain. This is one of the first instances where a manufacturer and retailer implemented the M2M program in partnership.

“LAELIM Jewelry is proud to be   in cooperation with the Belgian IGC Group   the very first Chinese retailer to offer diamonds that have been evaluated by GIA for its M2M program,” said Mrs. Lin Xiang, CEO of LAELIM Jewelry. “The LAELIM brand will touch the Chinese consumer’s heart as the GIA M2M will give consumers a unique buying and exclusive owner experience in a way that has never been seen before. The digital journey from mining, through Belgian excellence in diamond cutting to the creation of the jewelry piece will create a more profound understanding of the beauty of the LAELIM brand.”

A select number of GIA-graded stones from LAELIM Jewelry have been added to the M2M program, recording each stone’s story as it moves from the mine to the consumer. IGC sources and polishes the rough diamonds, which then move to LAELIM Jewelry where consumers have the opportunity to experience their story.

“The M2M platform allows us, as a Belgian manufacturer of diamonds, to share our 106 years of heritage and excellent craftsmanship with the consumer.” says Hans Clement, sales director and partner at IGC Group. “Not only are we happy to be in this project with such reputable collaborators such as GIA and LAELIM Jewelry, but we are convinced that this digital platform creates transparency and will excite the Chinese consumer.”

M2M is a digital story telling platform that brings together GIA’s unique ability to scientifically match rough diamonds to the resulting polished gems with information that tells the compelling story of a diamond’s journey.

“We are happy to have the participation of LAELIM Jewelry and IGC Group with the M2M program. Since launching in 2017 we have seen an increase in the interest of the program” said Tom Moses, executive vice president and chief laboratory and research officer. “Consumer demands are shifting and provenance is becoming an important topic in the buying process.”

LAELIM Jewelry was founded in Shenzhen, China in 2011. They are committed to providing diamond traceability and upon establishment of their jewelry brand, IGC Group endorsed LAELIM in 2017. For more information about LAELIM Jewelry visit www.laelim.com. IGC Group holds a long history of diamond cutting as early as 1890. The company was founded in 1912 by the Claes family in Antwerp, Belgium. Today, IGC Group is one of the largest Belgian manufacturers. ‘Crowningshieldite’ - New Mineral Named in Honor of Gemology Pioneer

New Mineral Named in Honor of Gemology Pioneer
GIA scientist discovers ‘Crowningshieldite’

Researchers at GIA (Gemological Institute of America), in collaboration with researchers at the University of Padova, recently discovered Crowningshieldite, a new mineral named in honor of G. Robert Crowningshield, a pioneering figure in gemological research for more than 50 years at GIA. Crowningshieldite was discovered as an altered inclusion in two diamonds from the Letseng mine in Lesotho. GIA Research Scientist Dr. Evan M. Smith publicly announced this new mineral earlier this year at GIA’s annual research meeting and presented at GIA’s International Gemological Symposium in October.

Crowningshieldite was accepted as a mineral on Sept. 18 by the International Mineralogical Association. Smith and his team of researchers discovered crowningshieldite while examining inclusions in CLIPPIR diamonds – a variety of type IIa diamond that forms at significantly greater depths than most diamonds. Crowningshieldite is a nickel sulfide mineral with a hexagonal crystal structure and can be regarded as the high-temperature polymorph of the mineral millerite. It is also the naturally occurring analog to the synthetic compound known as α-NiS. The mineral is proposed to have formed by alteration or chemical modification of originally metallic, polyphasic inclusions. These iron and nickel-rich metallic inclusions are the most prevalent type of inclusion found in CLIPPIR diamonds.

“Discoveries such as this propel our understanding of diamonds and the earth forward; this is why research is the cornerstone of GIA’s mission,” said Tom Moses, GIA executive vice president and chief laboratory and research officer.  “I can think of no better way to honor Mr. Crowningshield’s legacy.”

G. Robert Crowningshield took GIA and the young science of gemology to new scientific heights. His first breakthrough came in 1956, when he discovered and documented the spectroscopic feature characterizing yellow irradiated diamonds. In 1971, he wrote the first report on gem quality laboratory-grown diamonds. His observations about the identification criteria for laboratory-grown diamonds discussed in that article, such as color zoning, metallic inclusions and uneven patterns of UV fluorescence, are still used today for diamond identification. Crowningshield is also recognized for reporting on many discoveries about pearls and colored stones. His 1983 landmark article described a naming convention for orange-pink “padparadscha” sapphires and he published more than a thousand brief observations in the regular Lab Notes column – that he originated in 1957 – of Gems & Gemology, GIA’s quarterly professional journal.

Smith presented details about crowningshieldite at GIA’s sixth International Gemological Symposium, held last October in Carlsbad, California. A specimen of the new mineral will be housed in GIA’s museum collection at the Institute’s headquarters in Carlsbad, California.

Italian Exhibition Group Announces Partnership with Emerald Expositions at PREMIER
Additional Pavilion Strengthens 2019 Launch
During Las Vegas Jewelry Market Week

Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) recently announced that they are joining Emerald Expositions at The Las Vegas Convention Center for the launch of PREMIER in 2019. IEG is the organizer of approximately 60 events, including the VICENZORO shows, as well as pavilions at other US-based trade events, and they will showcase a significant pavilion of
Italian Made jewelry from some of the most highly regarded Italian brands and manufacturers in the world. The addition of these mainstay exhibitors to PREMIER, along with the show’s co-location with AGTA GemFair™ Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Antique Jewelry and Watch Show, further distinguishes the Las Vegas Convention Center as a destination venue during Las Vegas Jewelry Market Week.

“We are delighted that the Italian Exhibition Group is joining us for the launch of  PREMIER,”  said Drew Lawsky, Group Show Director, Emerald Expositions. “The landscape has changed in Las Vegas, and based on the enthusiastic feedback we’ve been receiving from our manufacturers and brands, we’re confident that PREMIER will provide the market with the alternative environment it is seeking. IEG’s commitment to our event will serve to augment our already robust presence at The Las Vegas Convention Center, and will have substantial draw among the type of qualified, motivated buyers that all three shows are seeking.”

“Italian Exhibition Group has an established reputation for creating opportunities for Italian
companies in one of their most important markets, the United States,” explains Gannon
Brousseau, Senior Vice President of Emerald Expositions. “We are thrilled that IEG has
determined that joining PREMIER in Las Vegas is an opportunity that will enhance the success of their brands, as well as strengthen their position within the overall jewelry landscape.”

"For the Italian Exhibition Group, this new partnership with a fair organiser of the size and calibre of Emerald Expositions LLC is a most exciting development,” stated Marco Carniello, Director of IEG's Jewelry & Fashion Division. “Not only does it strengthen our  presence in the international jewellery sector, but it provides a range of new opportunities for ‘Made in Italy’ in the critically important U.S. market.”

In January of this year, AGTA announced their decision to partner with Emerald Expositions during The Las Vegas Antique Jewelry and Watch Show. Based on the solidity of both exhibitors and attendees at both of these long-standing shows, as well as on-going demand from the JA New York Community to host an event in Las Vegas, Emerald Expositions announced the launch of PREMIER. To be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, May 31-June 4, 2019, PREMIER will feature an extensive selection of established fine jewelry manufacturers and brands, emerging designers and timepieces in one convenient, easy-to-shop venue. The addition of a robust Italian Pavilion, organized by IEG, who has consolidated experience in the jewelry sector as well as international market position, serves as the perfect complement to existing strategic initiatives.

About PREMIER:
PREMIER is a soon-to-be-launched, business-to-business fine jewelry trade event to take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center beginning in 2019. Catering to both established manufacturers and brands, timepieces and emerging designer talent, PREMIER will be co-located with The Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show and the AGTA GemFair™ Las Vegas.

Heritage Filigree Jewelry Brand - Eleuterio

Heritage Filigree Jewelry Brand Eleuterio
Made US Debut at COUTURE

Heritage filigree jewelry maker Eleuterio made its US debut at COUTURE 2018 earlier this year in a strategic effort to continue expanding the Portuguese brand’s global footprint.

Founded in 1925, Eleuterio has always specialized in the art of handmade gold filigree jewelry,  an ancient technique which the company has perfected.

The company’s workshops were first  founded in 1925 in Travassos,  a northern region of Portugal known for its strong handcraft traditions in jewelry making.

The company’s namesake, Eleuterio Antunes, moved to preserve the traditional filigree jewelry craft techniques during a time when mass production and casting nearly made such precious skills extinct.

Efforts by other firms to replicate the look of filigree with new casting methods inevitably impacted the quality and finesse of the jewels and could not compare to the fine traditional  hand-worked pieces produced by the artisans of Eleuterio.

Today, Eleuterio remains honored to preserve, promote, and perpetuate the unique art of handmade filigree jewelry making which has endured in Portugal for more than 5,000 years.

Eleuterio and its workshops remain rooted in Northern Portugal where the company first began, led by the third generation of the Eleuterio family, Rosa and Luis Antunes.

All Eleuterio filigree jewelry pieces are inherently unique, exhibiting the slight differences that speak of the skilled craftsman’s hand.

Eleuterio’s collections span from contemporary to classic aesthetic influences, from traditional Portuguese motifs to Art Deco designs and organic floral designs.

Each crafted of the highest quality, the diverse yet refined filigree jewelry collections reflect the global soul of this haute, heritage jewelry brand.

Eleuterio chose  COUTURE 2018 as a step towards further global expansion, selecting the elite show as the ideal venue to reintroduce the fine art of Portuguese filigree jewelry to the United States and beyond.

About Eleuterio:Established in 1925, heritage filigree jewelry brand Eleuterio was founded in 1925, specializing in gold filigree jewelry of the highest quality. Located in Northern Portugal, the brand and workshops remain owned and operated by the third generation of the Eleuterio family, Rosa, and Luis Antunes.  Preserving and protecting a vital Portuguese ancestral tradition, the artisans of Eleuterio hand-make each filigree piece with delicate lace-like gold threads using techniques that date back over 5000 years.

Today, Eleuterio skillfully reinterprets this traditional filigree art into a contemporary,  globally inspired filigree collection crafted in gold and diamonds, available throughout Portugal and beyond.

Breaking Age-Old Economic & Social Boundaries: Training low income women in Jaipur to be Gem Cutters.

With vision, we can make a difference in the world. A very successful businessman in Jaipur, India had a vision where he wanted to educated every child in the Slums of Jaipur. Through his commitment, personal resources and the financial help of the Jaipur community, along with our Foundation, (Colourful Life Foundation, U.K.) this visionary businessman was able to fund 9 individual schools where children who normally could not have received a quality education to come and learn from Grades 1-6. Starting with this vision and directly supporting the schools, The Colorful Life Foundation, based in the United Kingdom also saw a direct opportunity to build and support the gem cutting community in Jaipur. Our foundation offered the mothers of these children who are attending the schools, to come at the same time and receive training in gemstone faceting and eventually being able to be employed in the Jaipur local gem cutting industry. In the not so distant past, this would have not been possible for women of this economic class to receive training of this caliber in the local gem industry. It would have been reserved for only the men of the community. The presentation is about the vision, the training and how this is making a difference in the community where many in the West manufacture gemstones and jewelry.

The Rough Gem Guide for Artisanal Miners: Building Value for Miners in Tanzania

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) developed a mostly pictorial guide for artisanal miners to analyze and classify the gem rough that they mine. The goal of the guide is to help miners identify value factors in rough and to provide them with tools to better negotiate value when they sell to brokers and other buyers. The booklet, written in Swahili, was distributed to Tanzanian miners together with a small, translucent tray to help them sort material and determine value factors. GIA contracted with Washington D.C.- based Pact to identify ideal mining communities in Tanzania that could benefit from the training, booklet, and tray. Over the past two years, the booklet and training program was distributed to important mining areas in Tanzania. With Pact as an important partner, GIA’s booklet has reached and benefitted approximately 1000 gem miners in the country.
