#JewelWKLV - Luxury Comes In All Price Points!

I have to say that when I signed up to cover Luxury by JCK I thought I would be overwhelmed...I am amazed by the craftsmanship, stunned by the color of the gems and blinded by the scintillation of the diamonds...but this show is so well set up that no one thing overwhelms you.  Each booth stands out and stands on it's own!

A couple of vendors that are truly the answer to the small retailer and chain alike that are weathering these tough times...

YEP - you saw that right LIEBERFARB - probably one of the #1 names in LUXURY Wedding...has just introduced a new line called BOND2.  a seamlessly extruded precious product made by pulling a tube of gold together with a tube of silver, so tightly, that the metals fuse together completely!!!

If you are a Maker/Bench Jeweler you know that this means you have a metal that you know how to work - and you CAN work this - so personalize blanks with stones or engraving - make it yours!!!

This next Designer is new to me Enric Torres has several lines - this artist from Barcelona is known most for his line of Gaudi style translucent enamels...

...but the lines that stood out to me were the Gallery and Silver Lines -you get a really BIG look and a very affordable retail...

The Gallery line "Parracs" has a chunky folded and forged steel look in Sterling Silver

...and the newest silver line is so reasonable - has a big look, texture, gems and movement - what more could you ask for?

Contact info is coming - and they will have a website up soon!

*any prices shown are tradeshow pricing

More to come....

#JewelWKLV - JCK'S MOBILE APP 2012 ENSURES EFFICIENT SHOW EXPERIENCE

JCK'S MOBILE APP 2012 ENSURES EFFICIENT SHOW EXPERIENCE

NEW FEATURES INCLUDE QR SCANNING AND COMMODITIES PRICING

Norwalk, CT (May 24, 2012) - The JCK Mobile App 2012 will provide exhibitors and buyers alike with key tools to pre-plan their trips and manage their show experience in real time. The app platform includes GPS technology and a complete Show Guide, as well as, new commodities pricing and QR scanning features. Sponsored by Simplex Diam Inc. and available for downloading now at www.jckmobile.com, the application is compatible with smart phones and web-enabled for Blackberry users.
"The key with this year's mobile app (for buyers) is the ability to both pre-plan and manage their trips on-site." explains Yancy Weinrich, Vice President, from JCK Events. "Because the entire Show Guide is fully functional with the app, buyers can access exhibitor lists, product categories, education seminars, events and transportation information prior to coming to Las Vegas and during the show. They can also store their list of favorite exhibitors and then utilize the app's GPS technology to navigate the floor from booth to booth."
While on the show floor, as buyers come across new exhibitors, products or collections of interest, they will have the ability, via the mobile app's QR Scanner feature, to scan an exhibitor's badge, adding them to the buyer's existing 'favorite exhibitors' list. The QR Scanning feature extends beyond JCK Las Vegas Jewelry Week by sending a post-show email, complete with a customized list and direct links to the JCK Marketplace showrooms of scanned exhibitors. The buyer can then continue to source and review products from the comfort of their home or store.
Exhibitors can take advantage of the app's functions as well, using it to obtain useful information about ongoing events, identify educational seminars, check the commodities market, track their Freeman shipments and, of course, take part in the QR Scanning program. In order for exhibitors to take full advantage of the QR scanning program, they must have an active and fully-uploaded JCK Marketplace Showroom.

GIA Museum Exhibits
GIA will showcase three inspirational displays at its booth L99, June 1-4. All images are copyright © GIA:

19th Century Tiara and Lorgnette
The Victorian era Fleur de Lis Tiara features old European-cut diamonds set in silver and gold. The American Art Nouveau lorgnette resembles a single peacock feather when closed, yet reveals a hand-held pair of reading glasses when unfolded.

The Enchanting Red Egg
This music box features enamel, precious gems and metals. When the ruby on top is pressed, the egg reveals a carousel of exotic animals that revolve and move up and down to music, using mechanisms adopted from mid-19th century Swiss musical snuff boxes.

Artifacts from 9/11
The diamond brooch, two petite silver mesh clutches and a pocket watch were recovered from a safety deposit box following 9/11. The majority of the contents in the vault were reduced to ash, yet the diamonds in the 1950s-era white gold brooch remain intact.

GIA Seminars
GIA will host two seminars at Banyan B at the Mandalay Bay. Tuition for each is $145. Previous gemological training and/or experience is recommended and pre-enrollment is required. To enroll, call 800-421-7250, ext. 4001 or email admissions@gia.edu.

Loupe Grading
Thursday, May 31, 9 to 11 a.m.
Attendees will learn loupe grading techniques used by professionals worldwide. They will identify, grade and separate natural diamonds from imitations using a 10x loupe and a grading light.

Identifying Ruby Treatments
Thursday, May 31, 1 to 3 p.m.
During this lecture and hands-on lab, attendees will learn which ruby treatments can be identified with standard gemological equipment and how to detect their identifying characteristics. Treatments covered include heat treatment, glass-filling, composite rubies, flux-assisted healed fractures and beryllium diffusion.

GIA Alumni Hours
Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
An excellent opportunity for GIA alumni to network at booth L99. Donna Baker, GIA president and CEO, will join the group on June 3.
